I've been using this product for approximately 4 weeks. During this time I've cleaned several items. Most of the items were cleaned very well after the initial default cleaning of 3 minutes. I cleaned a watch band, my wedding band, and several other rings. All were cleaned very well. I decided to challenge the cleaner and put in a US penny minted in 2000. As you might imagine it was quite dirty. I cleaned the penny 5 times using the default 3 minute time each time (longer times can be set). While it was not as sparkling as my rings I was amazed that I was able to see the copper on most of the coin after several cleanings.

I decided to throw another challenge at the cleaner by cleaning an old trombone mouthpiece I had. Being a professional trombonist I have several mouthpieces. I found the oldest one I had and put it in the cleaner. After 2 cleanings the mouthpiece was very clean even the part (the shank) that usually needs a brush to get cleaned. I then took my current mouthpiece and put it in for a cleaning. I will be using the jewelry cleaner to clean my mouthpiece from now on. So you brass players might want to take a look at this to clean your mouthpiece. I don't know what would happen to woodwind mouthpieces and I don't think a violin or guitar would fit. <grin>

Getting back to the everyday stuff...I cleaned my eyeglasses in it. Since I was using only water to clean my glasses anyway I figured there would be no harm to the glasses using the cleaner with water. New Trent says it's an eyeglass cleaner. My glasses easily fit into the tray. If you've got over sized frames they may not fit but I think the average glasses frame will be fine. The lenses and frame looked great and the nose guards, which accumulate dirt, were almost 100% free of dirt. With the glasses still wet I immediately got a cotton swap and easily wiped away the small amount of dirt that remained.

Now to the jewelry of my skeptical wife. She placed in the cleaner, on its default 3 minute setting, several rings, a diamond ring, earrings, and a watch. She was very impressed with how clean her stuff was. Some of the rings had not been cleaned in quite a while so they were drab looking. After the cleaning they looked great.

The final test was to ask our 2 adult daughters to bring whatever jewelry they wanted to be cleaned to our house on their next visit. So today, January 8, 2012 they came to visit. The cleaned items were wedding bands, rings, earrings, and bracelets. Both of my daughters said their stuff was much cleaner than before the cleaning. They agreed that for the price it was worth getting.

In addition to the items I mentioned I cleaned I also cleaned dvd's using the dvd\cd holder. The smudged dvd's were free of fingerprints and smudges after the cleaning. Whether or not it's worth buying the cleaner to clean dvd's is something for each person to decide. I guess if you're a mail-order dvd user it may be worth looking in to. Quite often I'd get a dvd from Blockbuster and I'd have to end up cleaning it.

If you are looking to save yourself trips to the local jeweler or just looking to keep your rings and other jewelry clean this is definitely a cleaner to check out. It's fairly priced and does what it claims to do.

While the device itself is very, very simple to use the manual, more like a fold out pamphlet, can use a bit of cleaning up. It's obvious the manual was not written by a native English speaker. It's not a big problem but some of the instructions had me and my wife scratching our heads in bewilderment. There are illustrations so the lack of clarity in only parts of the manual should not be a problems for most people. But c'mon New Trent, you have a fine product. Why leave some users wondering what to do? Please, have the manual rewritten.

I ordered the New Trent CD-7810 to clean my glasses and Netflix DVDs. It arrived well packaged and the owners manual was easy to follow. I quickly had it setup and eagerly placed my filthy glasses in for a cleaning. My glasses came out really clean except for a greasy fingerprint. I suspect an ultrasonic cleaner solution would even get the print! I can't wait for my next filthy Netflix DVD to try it again!
